The Guardian redesigns

My favourite newspaper is changing and switching to the smaller Berliner format. Bit of a shame since you’ll lose that lovely Saturday-morning-camped-under-a-newsprint-tent feel but it will be a lot easier to read on the train, etc. They’ve put up some details on the new design, which is quite interesting if you’re into typography and all that stuff.

Seven mistakes

For the last few years, I’ve had bits and pieces of a website spread across three or four servers. Pictures were kept on one for storage reasons, scripts on another because of execution permissions, and redirects on another to tie it all together. As you might expect, it was a bit of a nightmare to update and maintain and so last month, I finally broke down and got some dedicated hosting.
